Ex Chelsea striker and former politician Andriy Shevchenko is on his way to adding another profession to his CV as he prepares to make his pro golf debut tomorrow.
We all knew Andriy Shevchenko the footballer and then we had to adjust to Andriy Shevchenko the politician. That chosen career quickly came to close when his party didn’t gain parliamentary representation. So what did Andriy decide to do then? Perhaps hang out with his child’s godfather Silvio Berlusconi, continue to model Giorgio Armani or turn his hand to golf? Well obviously like many retired men he thought he would have a swing at golf, but unlike most retired men he is now playing in his first Challenge Tour event.
The Kharkov Superior Cup is ranked only one tier lower than the full European Tour and features a host of talent. Players such as three-time European Tour winner Nick Dougherty and former Ryder cup contestant Oliver Wilson are set to take on the course so the competition will be fierce.
How do you think Shevchenko will get on in his new sporting venture?
