With the regular MLB season drawing to a close it is time to look at various playoff scenarios and see where the World Series will end up this year!
The American League playoff picture is becoming a good bit clearer. The melt down of the Texas Rangers for the 2nd yr in a row has to be a huge disappointment and must raise questions about Ron Washington's leadership. It looks like Tampa will pick up the first Wild Card with Terry Franconas Indians destined for the 2nd Wild Card. What a fairytale story that will be to see Francona come back from the wilderness. That will set up a one game Wild Card showdown winner takes all with Fast finishing Indians favourite to come thru and meet the Red Sox in the Division series.
The other half of the ALDS sees Detroit take on Oakland. This will be a dour match up and I favour the A's to come through and meet the Red Sox in ALCS. Miguel Cabrera is limping to the finish and without his potent bat Detroit are badly exposed. I wouldn't be surprised if A's emerge as overall AL Champions. They have very steady young pitching+ timely hitting and the Bullpen anchored by Balfour is going to be hard to beat if they get their head in front. I will look later at the National League.
