Irish racing heads to Meath on Sunday with three Grade Two’s taking place at Navan racecourse. The first of seven races goes to post at 1:50 at the Proudstown track.

The opening Follow Navan On Facebook Maiden Hurdle could see the Willie Mullins trained Tennis Cap finally break his duck over hurdles however slight preference is for Hawk Flight who was third over the course and distance to Terminal and second to Burn And Turn at Leopardstown last time out. David Casey is booked to ride.

The Boyne Hurdle has attracted eight runners and yet again the betting will be dominated by the Willie Mullins pair of

Mikael D’Haguenet and Mourad. Noel Meade’s Fully Funded shouldn’t be ignored whilst Dessie Hughes Rick has a lively chance but preference is for Mourad who was third to Big Bucks at Cheltenham last time out and second to the talented mare Voler La Vedette on two occasions. Paul Townend takes the ride on Mourad.

Gordon Elliott’s Beef To Heels looks set to justify favouritism in the Irish Stallion Owners EBF Maiden Hurdle having finished second on his last three starts but Jessica Harrington’s Maller Tree who was useful in bumpers and had a nice run when finishing third to Aupcharlie on his hurdling debut could prove the danger.

Cantrell didn’t like the up in trip on his last run but wasn’t far from disgraced on his previous start when finishing second to Baby Whizz over the course and distance could run another big race in the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle with Adrian Heskin booked to ride. Sean Airgead and In The Haven look the dangers.

Paul Nolan saddles three out of the seven runners in the Grade Two Flyingbolt Novice Steeplechase with Far Away So Close likely to head the betting. Local trainer Noel Meade saddles Donnas Palm and he could be the one to keep an eye on.

Seven runners are declared for the Grade Two Irish Form Book Ten Up Novice Steeplechase and Charlie Swan’s Start Me Up should be considered having clipped heels and unseating when going very well at Punchestown last time out. Noel Meade’s Medical Card was a surprise winner t Naas last time out and shouldn’t be ruled out whilst it is interesting to see that Davy Russell has picked Four Commanders as his mount out of the three Gigginstown House Stud runners.

Twelve runners go to post in the Dunsany (Pro/AM) Flat Race and Sizing Gold looks the one to beat for trainer Henry De Bromhead. An interesting booking is Nina Carberry on the Paul Flynn trained Admiral Barton who won his point to point at Loughanmore last April. Any market moves should also be noted.
