Rubi Light has sights on Punchestown Gold Cup.

Wednesday, 21 March 2012 12:02

Robert Alan Hennessy plans on running Rubi Light in the Punchestown Gold Cup at the county Kildare venue next month.

Rubi Light ran well at Cheltenham last week but could only manage to finish fifth in the featured Ryanair Chase last Thursday at Prestbury Park.

Although he will be stepping up to three mile again, he proved that he can manage the extra furlongs after finishing second to Gold Cup winner Synchronised in the Lexus Chase last December at Leopardstown.

Speaking today his county Meath trainer Robert Alan Hennessy said “He's grand, not

Cheltenham Gold Cup Day Preview and Selections

Friday, 16 March 2012 10:06

It’s the final day of the Cheltenham 2012 Festival and it has been a mixed week for the Irish with only three winners recorded. The feature brace today is the Gold Cup and it will see last year’s winner Long Run take on the brave and gallant Kauto Star who won the race in 2007 and 2009.

The opening JCB Triumph Hurdle looks a very open race and it’s questionable whether it should be classified as a Grade One race. The former Andrew Oliver trained Dodging Bullets who was bred by Frankie Dettori make a nice debut over hurdles to finish second at Kempton and no doubt Paul Nicholls will have this lad primed for this race. Shadow Catcher and His Excellency look like others that may be worth a solid each way bet. Betpack.com are paying ¼ odds 1-2-3-4 Places in the Triumph Hurdle.

Jessica Harrington’s Citizenship is reported to be in tremendous form and has a really nice weight in the County Hurdle and looks a solid each way bet but

Cheltenham Day Two Preview ( Its Ladies Day)

Wednesday, 14 March 2012 09:59

Day two kicks off at 1:30 with The Diamond Jubilee National Hunt Steeplechase. It’s a race in which the amateur riders get to shine and today’s twenty runner field looks a very tricky contest. Willie Mullins thinks that the distance will suit his horse Alee Garde and it would be great for his son Patrick to get a Festival winner after he lost yesterdays Cross Country horse Scotsirish. Willie Mullins also saddles Soll and the lightly raced horse will be ridden by Katie Walsh. Nina Carberry has been booked to ride the Mouse Morris trained Four Commanders and could also go close.

Nineteen runners go to post for the Grade One Neptune Investments Novice Hurdle and the Noel Meade trained Monksland looks set to play a big part. His form was massively been boosted after Lyreen Legend won recently at Thurles. Check out the YouTube video below to see what Noel Meade

Fairyhouse Saturday Preview and Selections

Friday, 24 February 2012 16:31

Fairyhouse host a seven race card on Saturday and although the Grade Two Bobbyjo Chase will be the feature race on the card, all eyes will be on the former John Oxx trained Minsk who makes his hurdling debut in the opening Juvenile Hurdle.

Now trained by Dessie Hughes, Minsk was last seen when winning the Irish Cesarewitch at the Curragh last October and is currently joint favourite for the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham. Bryan Cooper takes the ride tomorrow with his

Navan Preview and Selections

Dundalk Preview and Selections

Friday, 27 January 2012 11:22

Dundalk hosts it usual all weather card tonight with the first of eight races due off to post at 5:50 at the county Louth venue.

The opening Group Booking at Dundalk Rated Race looks a wide open contest with Tsar Paul holding every chance following a close second to Farmleigh house last week at the venue. An interesting runner to note is the Mark Johnson trained Joe Le Taxi and should be noted if any moves occur in the betting.

The Fundraising Made Easy At Dundalk Maiden has attracted eight runners and the King of Dundalk; Ger Lyons is represented by Roman General. Johhny Murtagh is booked to ride but the main danger looks to be the Edward Lynam trained Atticus Finch who finished

Voler La Vedette doubtful for Irish Champion Hurdle

Tuesday, 24 January 2012 09:54

Voler La Vedette looks likely to bypass Sunday’s BHP Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown on Sunday unless the ground gets a lot softer. Thursday's Grade 2 John Mulhern Galmoy Hurdle at Gowran Park looks the plan for now unless the ground at Leopardstown softens.

The ground at Leopardstown is currently good ahead of Sundays feature race and trainer Colm Murphy today virtually ruled Voler La Vedette out of the Grade 1 contest in favour of Thursday's 3m race.

Having won the Grade 1 Hatton’s Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse as well as the Grade 2 Lismullen Hurdle at Navan and then the Grade 2 WoodiesDIY.com Christmas Hurdle, Voler La Vedette who is unbeaten in three starts
