Killarney Preview and Selections
Irish action moves to county Kerry this evening to the scenic and most beautiful racecourse in Ireland. The first of a seven race flat card is due off to post at 5:10 at Killarney.
The opening goracingkillarney.com maiden looks set to see the Ken Condon trained Charpoy head the market. Johnny Murtagh is booked to ride and having finished second at Dundalk on his last outing, he should go close however the Mick Halford trained filly Ondeafears looks a solid each way bet with Gary Carroll booked to ride. It was Gary’s birthday yesterday so maybe he can get a late birthday present.
The Robin Parke Memorial Handicap for three year olds has only attracted seven runners and it will be hard to find the winner. Aidan O Brien’s Ballinrobe winner Fairylike looks a lively contender with his son Joseph booked to ride. Leopardstown winner Words Of Wisdom for the Edward Lynam stable and the Paul Cashman trained Extra Steps also look set to run a big race. Ronan Whelan who is banging in the winners lately claims a valuable five pounds from Extra Steps.
The Ballydoyle team fired back into form with a double at Cork last night and it looks like Secretary Of State can make a bold bid under Joseph O Brien to claim the two year old nursery. The son of Danehill Dancer has had some nice runs under his belt and he looks set for another big run. David Wachman’s Money Spider and Dermot Weld’s Crimson Sunrise look the main dangers.
The feature race on the card is The Listed Vincent O Brien Ruby Stakes and this race has attracted eleven runners. Dermot Weld’s Galway winner Stunning View looks set to dominate the betting but he won’t have things his own way in the race. Ken Condon’s Marvada and Aidan O Brien’s Wild Wind look lively contenders as well as the Mick Halford trained Banna Boirche who looks set to run a big race at a nice price with Shane “Dusty” Foley booked to ride.
The Tracey Collins trained Landsdowne has been knocking on the door and has just left it a little late on his last few runs but with seven pound claimer Daniel Benson taking the weight down, he is sure to run another big race in The Tadgh Kelly Carpentry Handicap.
Jessica Harrington’s Why But Why should run a big race in The Tadgh Clifford Groundcare Handicap having been second on his last two outings. Fran Berry takes the ride on the son of Whywhywhy. Edmond Kent’s Galway winner and runner up Lover’s Peace looks the main danger.
Tommy Stack’s Fountain Of Honour can run well in the fillies maiden with Wayne Lordan booked to ride. David Wachman’s Livia’s Wake and Aidan O Brien’s Sloane Street look the main rivals.
Killarney Selections
5:10 Ondeafears each way
5:40 Extra Steps
6:10 Secretary Of State
6:40 Banna Boirche each way
7:10 Landsdowne each way
7:40 Why But Why each way
8:10 Fountain Of Honour

Sligo Preview and Selections
Out of my seven tips yesterday, I had two non runners, two winners and a second so it turned out to be a profitable evening.
Irish Racing stays in the west this evening and moves to Sligo with the first of a seven race flat card due off to post at 4:55 at the Cleveragh venue. A little bit of advice is to look at horse who like soft ground as this proved very successful in Roscommon last night and Sligo is a track that gets wetter than Roscommon.
The opening two year old auction race has attracted only eight runners and the course and distance winner Blue Mimosa is most likely to go off favourite for Kevin Prendergast and Declan McDonogh. Legal Peace finished second at Sligo on her last run and won’t go down without a fight whilst the Niall Moran trained Nine Bean Rows finished behind Legal Peace on his last run and looks a solid each way bet with Rory Cleary taking the ride having ridden and represented Ireland in the 7th KRA International Jockey Challenge in Korea at the weekend.
The Pat Martin trained Footprint has plenty going for him in the www.countysligoraces.com claiming Race. A former course and distance winner looks sets to run another big race following a close fourth to Iron Major at Galway when well fancied. Andrew Thornton takes the ride. An interesting runner and any market support should be noted is the Shane Donoghue Royal Intruder. This horse was very unlucky in running at Fairyhouse and finished fourth and looks set to run another big race under Fran Berry.
The Ger Lyon’s trained Suspect Device can get back to winning ways in The Follow Sligo Racecourse on Facebook Handicap. Having won at Fairyhouse and finished a close fourth at Wexford last time out, Johnny Murtagh looks set to steer this horse for another big run. Waterford trainer Pat Flynn saddles Bonnie Acclamation and having run a good race at Cork last time, the inform trainer could add another win to his belt.
Bubbly Bellini has been very reliable all season and the Adrian McGuinness trained horse has been running well lately and looks set to run a big race in the Sligo Race Supporters Club Handicap. Leigh Roche takes off a valuable five pounds. The main danger looks to be the Prunella Dobbs trained Gagnant who finished second to Cool Athlete at Tipperary and is most likely to go off favourite.
Dodging Bullets could follow up on his Galway win in The Rosses Point Handicap but he will have a tough task. Andrew Oliver’s son of Dubawi, who was bred by the one and only Frankie Dettori, will be in the shakeup but the John Oxx trained Dawariya won’t go down without a fight with Johnny Murtagh booked to ride.
The Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap looks a wide open contest with Music On D Waters most likely to go off favourite following a close third at Sligo on her last run. Noel Meade’s Leroy Parker ran a nice race at the Galway Festival and with Emmet McNamara booked to ride, he should go close.
The Dermot Weld trained Harangue looks set to run a big race in the concluding maiden having finished second at Galway to Sam Bass with a late run but John Oxx’s Narjawa looks the main danger. Seven runners only run now following the withdrawal of the Jessica Harrington trained Dame Shanakill.
Sligo Selections
4:55 Nine Bean Rows each way
5:25 Royal Intruder each way
6:00 Bonnie Acclamation each way
6:30 Bubbly Bellini each way
7:00 Dodging Bullets
7:30 Leroy Parker each way
8:00 Harangue

Leopardstown Preview and Selections
Tonight sees Leopardstown Racecourse stage the last of its Bulmer’s Live nights for the year with Jamie Lawson and The Horslips taking to the stake after the last race. Action at the Foxrock venue starts at 5:35 with a seven race flat card and the feature race is The Group 3 Desmond Stakes due off at 7:05.
The opening fillies maiden for two year old looks a wide open contest but Jim Bolger’s filly Lady Wingshot is preferred having just gone down a short head to Lady Rochford at Naas last time. Kevin Manning takes the ride on the daughter of Lawman. Aidan O Brien’s Ahimsa and Jessica Harrington’s Silver Sycamore look the main dangers in this competitive filly’s maiden.
The Breast Cancer Ireland Handicap looks another wide open contest over seven furlongs with Noel Meade’s Still Point most likely to go off favourite having finished second to Iron Major at Galway. Another interesting runner is the Ted Walsh trained Collingwood who can run a nice race at a good price with Ted’s daughter Katie booked to ride.
The third race is a maiden for colts and geldings and it looks like the Aidan O Brien trained Mannheim can put his Galway misfortunes behind and get his head in front with Aidan’s son Joseph booked to ride. Jessica Harrington’s Canaille could put a challenge up to Mannheim but on paper it looks like it will be another winner for the Ballydoyle team.
The Group Three Desmond Stakes has attracted only six runners but it will hopefully be a thrilling race to watch. Emiyna looks set to go off favourite for John Oxx but she won’t have things his own way as the Michael Halford trained Hujaylea and the Ger Lyon’s trained Future Generation won’t go down without a fight. The other three runners are the Edward Lynam trained Duff, Liam McAteer’s Croisultan and Joanna Morgan’s Moran Gra.
The Leopardstown Cup has attracted five runners and Jessica Harrington’s Crystal Morning looks set to go off favourite. Mick Halford saddles Barrow Island and Adrian McGuinness saddles Toufan Express an these two wont go down without a fight.
The Derrinstown Apprentice Handicap could see Moving Statue make a quick appearance following his third at Gowran last night and if he does run, he will take all the beating. If Moving Statue doesn’t run, Badger Or Bust looks a solid each way bet.
The concluding fillies maiden has only attracted seven runners but it looks wide open. Jim Bolger’s Burn The Floor can progress from her run in Galway when finishing five lengths fifth to Good Shot Noreen, whilst Edward Lynam’s two runners Diamond Daze and Jolie Jioconde look set to throw down a fight.
Leopardstown Selections
5:35 Lady Wingshot
6:05 Collingwood each way
6:35 Mannheim
7:05 Hujaylea
7:35 Barrow Island
8:05 Moving Statue each way (If he runs) and if not Badger Or Bust each way
8:35 Burn The Floor

Gowran Park Preview and Selections
After a break from Irish Racing yesterday, action moves to Gowran Park this evening, with the first of a seven race flat card going to post at the County Kilkenny venue at 5:05PM.
The opening Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden looks a tricky contest with a lot of newcomers taking the chance. Ger Lyon’s Qatar’s Pearl has a run under his belt having finished second at Naas in July and with Keegan Latham booked to ride; the son of Tapit won’t go down without a fight. Aidan O Brien’s Foot Soldier looks the main rival.
Denis Cullen is enjoying his career as a trainer having taken over from Michael O Brien at his Curragh base and his filly Coolnagree can progress from her second at Sligo last week to take the Rooftop Restaurant at Gowran Park Nursery. Pat Smullen is booked to ride and the lower draw is sure to suit this daughter of Dark Angel. Ger Lyon’s saddles Greek Canyon and Aidan O Brien saddles Prophesy and these look the main dangers to Coolnagree.
The third race on the card is The McEnery Handicap and it has attracted nine runners. Dermot Weld’s Teach Nua won nicely at Galway and despite drifting in the market at Sligo last week continued his winning ways and he looks set to bid for win number three under Pat Smullen. Jessica Harrington’s Steps To Freedom ran a nice race to finish second to Flowers Of Spring at Fairyhouse and if this form holds up, he won’t be too far away. Tommy Stack saddles Cnocandancer who was second to Flowers Of Spring at Cork and the daughter of Danehill Dancer looks like she could be in the placings.
The fourth race on the card is the Listed Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Hurry Harriet Stakes for fillies and mares and it looks quite a competitive event. Jessica Harrington’s Bible Belt will try to follow up from her Leopardstown win with Shane Foley booked to ride but she won have it all her own way in this competitive fillies and mares event. Kevin Prendergast’s stable came back into form on Sunday at The Curragh and he saddles Kissable in this feature race. Aidan O Brien’s Look At Me finished fourth on her last run at The Curragh and should also get involved, however the Andrew Oliver trained Negotiate looks the pick having finished a close fourth at Cork and with Chris Hayes booked to ride, this daughter of Red ransom looks a solid each way bet.
Jim Bolger saddles Tobar Na Gaoise in the jogforjockeys.ie handicap and he can follow up her Leopardstown win but the Andrew Oliver Elusive Award wasn’t too far off the pace at Galway despite finishing seventh and he could give Chris Hayes a well deserved winner.
Stars Go racing trainer David Marnane saddles Cool Athlete in The Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap and he will be trying to progress from his Tipperary win last week with winning jockey eighteen year old Dave Bergin bidding for a second win. Noel Meade’s Moving Statue is progressing in the right way and he looks to be the main danger.
The concluding Fillies Maiden looks like Tommy Stack’s Fountain Of Honour can combine with Wayne Lordan to take the prize money. The daughter of the legendary Sadler’s Wells can progress from her second at Down Royal. Jim Bolger’s Alabelle and Dermot Weld’s Along Came Casey look the main rivals.
Gowran Park Selections
5:05 Qatar’s Pearl
5:40 Coolnagree each way
6:10 Cnocandancer each way
6:40 Negotiate each way
7:10 Elusive Reward each way
7:40 Moving Statue each way
8:10 Fountain Of Honour

Ballinrobe Preview and Selections
Irish action moves west to Mayo tonight to Ballinrobe where the first off a seven race mixed card is due off at 5:50.
The opening Craic On the Track August 14th Handicap looks set to be an interesting contest and has attracted a few dual purpose horses. The King Of Ballybrit Dermot Weld saddles Masdar and he is most likely to justify favouritism with Pat Smullen taking the mount but some each way value is available in the race. Tony Martin’s Golan Go for owner William Moffett, Cecil Ross’s Omas Glen and winning Galway Hurdle trainer Paul Flynn’s Rusty Halo all could run a big race whilst the Eric McNamara trained Khayar could give his son Emmett another winner for Margaret Wilmott, the wife of well known owner Paddy Wilmott.
The second race on the card is a three year old maiden and it looks set to be a thriller. Andrew Oliver’s Jouster was a little disappointing at Sligo last week but he steps up in trip and back to maiden company and with Ben Curtis booked to ride he will take all the beating. Luggers Hall and Hisaabaat look the main dangers.
The Burleigh Accountants Handicap looks a tricky contest with a few horses that disappointed in Galway making reappearance. Dermot Weld’s El Toreros and the Aidan O Brien trained Fairylike should play a part but the Ken Condron trained Sharnova looks a solid each way bet. Sharnova finished a close fourth at Down Royal last time out and with Ross Coakley booked to ride, the daughter of Shamardal looks set to run a nice race.
The fourth race turns to the hurdles and it sees Gordon Elliott saddle Esporao who was third at Sligo last week can put up a lively show. After having a mixed day at Downpatrick yesterday, Gordon will surely have his horse ready to strike with Paul Carberry booked to ride. The main danger looks to be the Ken Condron trained Peak Of Fire.
The Ballinrobe 90th Anniversary Hurdle has only attracted six runners and news had reached me that it now has only five as the Tracey Collins trained Long Loch is a non runner. Noel Meade’s Muirhead is the class horse in the race and if back to form he will take all the beating. Jessica Harrington’s Magical Memoir ran a cracker at Galway and if she holds ups this form; she will be in with a shout. Tony Martin’s Psycho and Willie Mullins Sicilian Secret will also be the ones to beat.
Augustine Leahy’s filly Rheinland could follow up her Limerick win in The Broderick’s Electrical Handicap Hurdle but it won’t be easy as she has many contenders. Dashing Ruby, Gordon Elliott’s Manger Hanagment and Colin Bowe’s Regal Obligation look the main dangers.
The last race on the card is The Tim Kelly Electrical Maiden Hurdle and it looks like the Val O Brien Abarta will take all the beating having finished third to the JP McManus owned Carlingford Lough at Roscommon who went on to win a competitive handicap at the Galway Festival. Alhellal and the Michael Hourrigan trained Craig’s Dream look the main danger.
Ballinrobe Selections
5:50 Omas Glen each way
6:20 Jouster
6:50 Sharnova each way
7:20 Esporao
7:50 Magical Memoir
8:20 Rheinland each way
8:50 Abarta

Sligo (Thursday) Preview and Selections
Two good winners at Sligo last night so we came out on top.
Sligo hosts the second day of its two day meeting and it sees a seven race all National Hunt card due off at 5:35.
The opening maiden hurdle looks set to be a battle between the Willie Mullins trained Earls Quarter and the Gordon Elliott trained Esporao. Earls Quarter will be taking to hurdles for the first time having form from bumpers but no doubt Willie Mullins will have him well schooled and with Champion Jockey Paul Townend booked to ride, he won’t go down without a fight.
The Martin Reilly BMW Dealer Novice Hurdle has only attracted four runners and it looks like Willie Mullins and Paul Townend could double up with Rattan. Despite finishing in mid division to Foster Cross at Galway, he will come on from this run and will take all the beating. Seamus Butler’s Heavenly Bound looks the danger having finished second to Bobby John at Galway on Sunday.
The famous poet preaching Monaghan man Oliver O Brady saddles Shabra Charity in the Leo McMorrow Memorial Hurdle and looks to have an each way chance with Matthew Bowes booked to ride. Sean Airgead and the Niall Madden trained Top Of The Head look like lively contenders.
The Martinstown Opportunity handicap has attracted eleven runners and it looks like the Noel Meade trained Soul Of Aran could run a big race under jockey Tim Carroll. Jason Cairns saddles Respectueux who was second to Aon Sceal at Wexford and won’t go down without a fight whilst the Fran Flood trained Down Under looks another danger.
Willie Mullins could have a good evening at Sligo as he saddles Uncle Junior in The Guinness Sligo handicap Hurdle but Niall maddens Highdownhill won’t let him have it his own way.
Pickapocketortwo could be the first leg of a double for Patrick Mullins in the Setanta Screens Maiden Hurdle. The Willie Mullins trained son of Fruits Of Love is stepping up in trip but in what looks like a weak maiden hurdle, he should take all the beating.
Local Celebrity can provide team Mullins with a family win in the September 28th at Sligo Flat Race as it carries the colours of Willies wife Jackie. The seven year old son of Bach was just headed at Naas on debut by Miss Hyland and looks set to collect in the get out stakes. Charlie Swan’s newcomer Good Time Harry who will be ridden by Nina Carberry looks the main rival.
Sligo Selections
5:35 Earls Quarter
6:05 Rattan
6:40 Shabra Charity each way
7:15 Soul Of Aran each way
7:50 Uncle Junior
8:20 Pickapocketortwo
8:50 Lord Celebrity

Leopardstown Preview and Selections
Leopardstown Racecourse prepares for a night of racing followed by Aslan playing after racing in the Bulmer’s Live Music Series. The first of a six race flat card is due off at 5:45.
The opening two year old maiden may be a race to watch and learn from but the Aidan O Brien trained Learn looks the one to beat having finished second at the Galway festival last week. Colm O Donoghue takes the ride.
The second race on the card is a valuable fillies handicap and course specialist Strandfield Lady looks set to run another big race. The Harry Rogers trained filly likes Leopardstown and with Ronan Whelan who had a double at Sligo last night booked to ride; she should go close. The Dermot Weld Flic Flac looks the main danger.
The third race on the card looks a tricky handicap and may be best watched whilst having a Bulmer’s at Leopardstown. Intyre Trail finished a close sixth at the Galway Festival last week and could improve from the run. Pat Flynn’s Alpha And Omega and Edward Lynam’s Words Of Wisdom should also be in the framework.
The Aslan maiden sees plenty of newcomers, but it looks like Jim Bolger’s newcomer Single The Turf will go off favourite. John Oxx’s Raydari and David Wachman’s The Lodge Road all look like contenders whilst Jessica Harrington’s newcomer Sumostars could surprise us all.
The feature race of the night is the Group Three Ballyroan Stakes which sees the Aidan O Brien trained Marksmanship take his chance but the Galileo colt won’t have it all his own way as Jessica Harrington’s Bob Le Beau won’t go down too easy. Fran Berry takes the ride on the son of Big Bad Bob who was just beaten by Sense Of Purpose at Leopardstown last time.
The Follow Leopardstown on Facebook Handicap looks a wide open contest but the Charles O Brien trained Dearest Girl’s form seems to be improving and the Galileo filly could provide Fran Berry with a winner. King Of Power, Golan Go, Star Power and the John Oxx trained Dimona won’t go down without a fight.
Leopardstown Selections
5:45 Learn
6:15 Strandfield Lady each way
6:50 Intrye Trail each way
7:25 Sumostars each way
8:00 Bob Le Beau
8:30 Dearest Girl each way

Sligo Preview and Selections
Irish Racing moves more westerly to Sligo tonight with a seven race flat card with the first off to post at 5:15.
The opening Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Auction Maiden for two year olds looks a tricky contest. Stars Go Racing mentor Adrian Mc Guinness saddles Beau Amadeus and with Pat Smullen booked to ride, he won’t go down without a fight having finished fourth at Bellewstown. The Ger Lyon’s trained Mount Meru looks a lively contender but preference is over the costly to follow Brian Nolan trained Perfect Goddess. Ronan Whelan takes a valuable seven pound from this daughter of Antonius Pius.
The second race on the card is a nursery handicap and the Jim Bolger trained Dayrina hasn’t been too far off the pace on her last two runs and she could run a nice race with stable jockey Kevin Manning booked to ride. Johnny Murtagh teams up with Denis Cullen to ride Coolnagree and it looks like the daughter of Dark Angel will be well primed for this race.
The Foley’s Bar and Restaurant Handicap sees Galway Festival winner Iron Major take his chance but he won’t have things all his own way. Andrew Oliver’s Jouster ran well in a hot maiden and now that he steps up to Handicap Company, he will take all the beating with joined 2010 champion apprentice Ben Curtis booked to ride.
Clare Glen has to carry top weight in The Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Connacht Oaks Fillies Handicap following her win at Galway on Friday but no doubt the Sarah Dawson trained filly will be rearing to go again with Seamus Heffernan booked to ride. Kevin Prendergast’s Spirit Of Cuba and the Paul Deegan trained Midnight Soprano.
Regresa A Mi is a filly that runs in patches but she has a lively outside chance in The Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Maiden and is worth a second look for trainer Pat McEnery and jockey Ronan Whelan. The Pat Martin trained Donatis Comet may stop her as he is biddy for a four timer under Ben Curtis.
The 16th August at Sligo Racecourse looks a wide open handicap and the betting may be best watched. The Peter Casey trained Music On D Waters has solid form and should be in the framework with Peter’s son Oliver booked to ride.
Galway winner Teach Nua will probably justify favouritism in the Sligo Park Hotel Handicap but he won’t have it all his own way as the impressive Leopardstown winner Do The Bosanova won’t go down without a fight for Jim Bolger and stable jockey Kevin Manning.
Sligo Selections
5:15 Perfect Goddess
5:50 Dayrina each way look like the main dangers.
6:20 Jouster each way
6:50 Spirit Of Cuba each way
7:20 Regresa A Mi each way
7:50 Music On D Waters
8:20 Do The Bosanova

Preview of Galway and Cork
It’s hard to believe that today is the last day of the Galway Festival 2011 in what has been a momentous week. Dermot Weld broke his record and has already saddled sixteen winners in the week. Willie Mullins super mare Blazing Tempo took the Galway Plate in style under Paul Townend and what a day on Thursday it was for Longford trainer Paul Flynn who saddled Moon Dice to win The Galway Hurdle under Tom Doyle.
Moving onto today’s action, the first of an eight race card goes to post at 2:20. The opening Galway Bay FM Beginners Steeplechase looks a wide open contest. Jim Culloty’s Regal D’estruval and Gordon Elliott’s Fool’s Wildcat are likely to dominate the market but Jessica Harrington’s Native Palm could run well if he takes to the fences and with Mark Bolger claiming a valuable three pound, this horse looks a solid each way bet.
The second race on the card is The Martinstown Opportunity handicap Hurdle over 2mile 2 furlongs. John “Shark” Hanlon sends Sparkling Tara out again having finished fifth on Wednesday despite getting loads of traffic problems. Conor O Farrell takes the ride and no doubt Sparkling Tara won’t get caught at the traffic lights today and is worth an each way bet. The Tom Mullins trained Baby Whizz looks the main danger.
The EasyFix European Breeders Fund Mares Handicap Hurdle looks a very completive battle of the mares but despite having to carry top weight, Gudnis Gracious Me will be well prepared for this event. The John O Shea trained mare has some decent form over timber and will take all the beating under Roger Quinlan.
The Galway Shopping Centre Handicap over seven furlongs looks like it could go the way of the David Marnane trained Some Slam. This horse got a lot of traffic problems at Killarney and with Danny Mullins taking the ride will take all the beating. Paul Deegan’s Wexford winner Beauty Express should run a good race despite having to carry top weight.
Despite having to carry top weight, the Willie Mullins trained Scotsirish will take all the beating in The Connacht Tribune Handicap Steeplechase under Paul Townend. John “Shark” Hanlon’s Truckers Delight won’t go down without a fight.
Despite only having four horses in training V C Ward knows how to get them fit and on fire. He saddles Regal Tramp in the sixth race and having finished third at Galway during the week, this horse is a solid each way bet. Dermot Weld’s Force Of Habit and Lovers Peace who won during the week look the lively dangers.
The Andrew Oliver trained Jazz Girl looked promising on her debut at the Curragh and despite Mr Weld saddling Comedic Art in the Fillies maiden she will take all the beating under Gary Carroll.
The final race of the Galway Races 2011 is in honour of Fe Sean Breen, a priest who loved horses and was a regular race goer and was known for his tips during sermons. Willie Mullins saddles Bless N Reject and looks an each way bet but the John Kiely trained Blossom Gale who bolted up at Cork will take all the beating.
Galway Selections
2:20 Native Palm each way
2:50 Sparkling Tara each way
3:25 Gudnis Gracious Me each way
3:55 Beauty Express each way
4:25 Scotsirish each way
4:55 Regal Tramp each way
5:25 Jazz Girl
5:55 Bless N Reject each way
Moving down South to Cork who stage a seven race flat card with the first off to post at 2:05.
The opening two year old maiden sees the Mick Halford trained Lanett Lady take her chance following an impressive debut at The Curragh. Shane “Dusty” Foley is booked to ride but she might not have it her own way as the Aidan O Brien trained Among Eagles won’t go down without a battle.
The David Marnane trained Foot perfect despite having to carry top weight looks primed to take the corkracecourse.ie Handicap but the David Wachman trained Compelling looks a another lively contender.
The apprentice handicap over five furlongs sees Liberty Island having to carry top weight for his last two wins. Ability N Delivery could cause problems having finished a close fourth to Liberty Island last time out and with talented apprentice Ronan Whelan booked to ride, he should go close again for trainer Michael Browne.
The feature race on the card is The Listed Platinum Stakes over one mile and John Oxx’s Alanza is most likely to go off favourite under Niall McCullagh but Jim Bolger is no stranger at training winners and his Claiomh Solais won’t go away too easy with stable jockey Kevin Manning booked to ride.
Jessica Harrington’s Siren’s Song could be an outside each way bet in the Group Three Give Thanks Stakes. Despite having ran poorly on her two runs across the sea, this daughter of Azamour is not to be overlooked and looks a solid each way bet with Shane “Dusty” Foley booked to ride.
Newmarket Story did the business at Ballinrobe and despite a hike in the weights; he will take all the beating for Cloughjordan trainer Willie Austin and Shane “Dusty” Foley in the Tote Trifecta Rollover Handicap. Eoin Doyle’s Grand Cruz looks the main danger.
The Edward Lynam trained Fred Fenster can take the get out maiden under South African Keegan Latham.
Cork Selections
2:05 Lanett Lady
2:35 Foot Perfect
3:10 Ability N Delivery each way
3:40 Claiomh Solais
4:10 Siren’s Song each way
4:45 Newmarket Story
5:15 Fred Fenster

Saturdays Galway Preview and Tips
Day six of the seven day Galway Festival has approached and a few sore heads can been seen from my apartment window but thankfully I am in full spirit and ready to boost your pockets with some more cash.
Saturday sees a seven race card due off to post at 2:25 with the feature Handicap due off at 4:00 and it has attracted some interesting runners.
Dermot Weld added winner number 13 of the week last night and can make it winner number 14 with Natural High in the opening maiden hurdle. Robbie McNamara can seal the top National Hunt jockey at the Galway Festival if he steers this one home.
The second race on the card looks a tricky handicap and it is a very wide open race. London Bridge was unlucky at Galway on Tuesday for Noel Meade and Paul Carberry and will be in the shake up. John O Shea saddles Leblon and this horse looks a solid each way bet at a nice price.
The third race is another race for Dermot Weld as he saddles Blue White Fire and this horse will be hard beaten unless something goes wrong. Vault and Bellewstown winner Dark Passion should fill the placing.
Mr Weld should take the valuable handicap again in the fourth as he saddles Rock Critic who won earlier in the week. Not even a tornado would stop the Weld train at the moment so my advice is to lump on at a short price.
The fifth race looks an interesting maiden with Aidan O Brien saddling the red hot favourite Mannheim and the King of Ballybrit saddling Hit The Jackpot but an interesting horse with an each way chance is the Paul Deegan trained All Approved who gave the Aidan O Brien well thought of Camelot a run for his money at Leopardstown.
Noel Meade can go close with Virgil Earp who won nicely on Monday at Ballybrit and with Shane “Dusty” Foley booked to steer, he won’t be far off the winning post.
The Get The Feeling Flat Race can go the way off Willie Mullins and his son Patrick as they combine to saddle Robin Angevin who was unlucky at just caught on the run in at Ballinrobe. Gordon Elliott’s Ballycroy Star looks the main danger.
Galway Selections
2:25 Natural High
2:55 Leblon each way
3:30 Blue White Fire
4:00 Rock Critic
4:30 All Approved each way
5:00 Virgil Earp
5:30 Robin Angevin
